A Little More About Me
Assalamu alaikum. My name is Mohammed Farhan Shareef. Buiding Muslim Leaders is the name of an annual conference I started while in undergraduate university and now this site.
I have been studying expert performance and psychology of communication, alongside Islamic studies for over a decade. Moreover, I have a baccalaureate degree in Psychology with a specialization in Strategic Communications.
Why did I start this site?
Throughout my primary and secondary education, I was fortunate enough to study Islam all over the world and constantly interact with Islamic scholars of all backgrounds. In addition to this vast network and Islamic study, I realized that there was one thing that set Muslim leaders apart from everyone else, relationships. This theme came up over and over again even amongst scholars, even more than seeking knowledge.
This one focus changed the way people who met Muhammed
perceived Islam. This one characteristic, built through specific habits, made the Khulafa Rashidun (the Righteous Caliphs).
Although knowledge provides insights on how to have relations, it doesn’t build relationships for people. Action is more important than knowledge. Average actions bring average results. And, there is a difference between being Muslim (scholar or new convert) and being a Muslim leader.
Here, I don’t focus on the idealistic pleasure of gaining knowledge, but the practical steps to building the family life you want and the professional goals you dream.
