Peak Performance (8 of 12): Competitive Planning

In Life on June 23, 2009 by buildingmuslimleaders Tagged: ,

A person is always planning and performing. Those who exceed at planning usually exceed at performing. Put together your own personal “board of trustees”, but don’t have “too many chef’s in the kitchen.”

Speaking of the successful and those that enter Paradise, Allah says:

And those who answer the Call of their Lord and perform salah and conduct their dealings by mutual consultation and who spend out of what We have bestowed on them… Quran 42:38

Peak Performance (7 of 12): Optimism

In Life on June 19, 2009 by buildingmuslimleaders Tagged: , ,

As one who has devoted his or her entire life to Allah, optimism is the ability to recognize that things will always be for your benefit. Recognize Who is on your side.

O you who believe! Spend charitably out of what We have provided for you, before a Day Hereafter come in which there shall be no trade, nor friendship, nor intercession. Then as to the disbelievers who embrace false gods, it is they who are the wrongdoers, godless in heart. Allah! There is nothing worthy of worship but Him, the All-Living, the Self-Subsisting All-Sustaining One. Slumber does not overtake Him, nor does sleep. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. Who shall intercede with Him, except by His permission? He knows what lies before them and what lies behind them. And, they do not comprehend anything of His knowledge, except that which He wills. His Seat of Divinity extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not fatigue Him. For He is the Ever-Exalted, the Magnificent.

There shall be no compulsion in religion! For truly righteousness has been made clearly distinct from perversity. Thus whoever disbelieves in false deities and believes in Allah alone has truly grasped the firmest handhold, which is forever unbreakable. And Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing. Allah is the Patron of those who believe. He brings them out from the veils of darkness into the light. And those who disbelieve, their patrons are false deities. They bring them out of the light into the veils of darkness. These are the companions of the Fire of Hell. They shall abide therein forever. – Quran 2:254-257

Peak Performance (6 of 12): Coping Well with Distractions

In Life on June 18, 2009 by buildingmuslimleaders Tagged: , ,

People are often deluded into things which they think are crucial at the moment. But, when they look back at what has happened or what has been done, they wish they had done things differently, or criticize themselves as to why they didn’t notice the right things at the proper time. Psychologists refer to this as the hindsight bias.

Now, they  who disbelieve say, “There is nothing but our life in this world, and never shall we be raised from the dead.” Yet if only you could see now when they shall be brought back to life and set before their Lord for Judgment. He shall say to them, “Is this Resurrection to life not the very truth that you denied?” They shall say, “Yes, indeed, by our Lord it is!” He shall say, “Then taste the everlasting torment in that before this Day you have disbelieved!” Truly those in this life who have belied resurrection and the destined Meeting with Allah for Judgment in the Hereafter are the ones at loss. When suddenly the Hour shall have come to them, they shall say, “Alas for us for all that we have neglected regarding this Day!”, and they shall carry their load of sin upon their backs. Most surely, evil is the load they bear.

For the life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. And, most surely, the abode of the Hereafter is far batter for those who are conscious of Allah. Will you not then understand? – Quran 6:29-32
